Yarn choice
The choice of yarn is a very creative thing that will
define look and character of your chameleon. I do not
have any exact recipe because I usually mix different
types of yarn. I could share with you only some of gen-
eral rules and give an example of what I used myself.
Yarn thickness is about 500 m per 100 gr. It is better to
use mercerized cotton, a thick thread with slight glitter.
Often it happens that the cotton thread of the colour
you chose is much more thicker than required. Check
then if the thread consists of 4 or sometimes even
more thinner threads coiled together. Then it is possible
to separate them and make the thick thread suitable
for you.

You can also unite several threads of different colours,
same shade or contrast, then your chameleon will be
more mélange, colourful or bright and vivid.
And it’s better not to do the stripes as there will be rows
to increase in the middle of the chameleon’s back that
will be too visible.

Wire for paws and tail
0,6-0,8mm florist wire would be perfect for the tail. It is
rigid enough. You could also use it for the paws but be
careful, sometimes its green covering dissolves in some
kinds of glue and dirt the yarn!

For the paws it is better to use internet cable wire, like
twisted pair, it is not as rigid as florist one but enough
for the paws.

Eyes
You can made yourself eyes exactly like in this pattern,
using glass lenses. Or use ready-made eyes.
How to make eyes, see page 23.

for sewing head and paws.
Embroidery needle
It is more convenient to use triquetrous needle for
leather and dense textile because it is also good
for sewing crocheted fabric.

Filling.
To insert the filler inside chameleon it is better to use
long nose pliers like that:

Thread for back’s embroidery
Moliné or any other kind of cotton, the one you choose
for the colour. In this patter I used thread APLINA VIVEN
of dark green, but my choice was not the best one as the
thread was too soft and started to fluff. You can also use
beads if you don’t want to waste time for embroidering.

In this pattern used UK knitting terms
that correspond to US terms as follows:
UK double crochet (dc) – US single crochet (sc)
UK treble crochet (tr) – US double crochet (dc).
